Bringing up Gwen Stacy again ohshitohshitohshit. I was already wondering about the possibility of Blaine getting killed – then Kurt mentions the possibility DIRECTLY TO HIM, and then Blaine fucking reveals himself as being involved with the group in front of a swarm of reporters, and now I am definitely nervous for him. Well, I’m nervous for all of them, really. Everything is going to get so intense. I’m sure most of their parents and classmates are sharp enough to figure out who they are based on their grouping and the civilians they’re with. Oh man. The tension is really ramping up now.
Speaking of tension, I loveloveLOVE the way you’re slowly building up the rivalry dynamic between Blaine and Puck. It was fittingly subtle in this chapter (because of whose POV it was in and because a lot of shit was going on), but it was so clearly and deliciously present. Blaine sees Puck staring, glowers, and kisses the shit out of Kurt; Blaine undermines Puck’s attempt to go with Kurt’s group while making a show of caressing Kurt’s arm and possessively gripping Kurt’s hand. It’s so awesome how threatened Blaine is, how clueless Kurt is, how Puck obviously doesn’t like Blaine (and obviously continues to be progressively more drawn to Kurt) even though it’s unclear what exactly is going through Puck’s mind. Very excited to see where this is going! <3
Amazing progression for their powers and their teamwork – especially that incredible sequence with Kurt wrapping himself around Rachel as they’re about to die, and Finn saving them both. Guh, that was so extraordinary, and it did cruel/wonderful things to my heart.
Santana making a very sweet, very tentative step out of the closet, spurred on partly by her desire to beat Rachel – so fitting for her character and so adorable.
Really loved the moments of levity in the middle of all the badass destruction. Kurt arguing with Rachel about the appropriateness of her attack song choice (favorite moment right there), Tina not being sure whether her energy would cause pain or pleasure, Santana talking to the police, Lauren hating on bad sarcasm, Sam being a comic nerd, etc. You have a really great way of breaking up the stressful stuff with lighter stuff, and your characters all have such distinct and charming voices.
Another spectacular chapter. Waiting eagerly for more. :)
